Tony Mong is spearheading a new effort to put video collars on mule deer in the ecologically important Upper Shoshone herd. This project will also help pioneer the use of video data to understand habitat use and habitat quality for mule deer in very difficult to reach areas. The videos will document and share the experiences of mule deer throughout the year, while allowing researchers to explore habitat use and animal interactions in both suburban and remote backcountry areas. Tony plans to deploy 10 video collars in spring 2024.
